Keith and Kim traveled to Orlando, FL on January 27th and 28th for the annual Wood Re New Convention. The convention is dedicated to keeping owners up to date on the latest techniques and technology.

Keith was excited to win six awards but we were touched to have received the "Lance Gold Award" once again. Many of our long time customers may remember Lance's story... He lost his young life to cancer in 2006 and this award honors his dedication to his customers, his passionate work ethic and his many contributions to the organization. There are many myths out there about how best to take care of your exterior wood. Wood Re New of Lake Country sets the records straight!

Myth: a deck, dock or fence built from treated lumber is protected from weather elements.

Fact: Treated lumber is formulated to slow down wood rot and insect infestation but does not offer any protection from weather related damage. Wood Re New of Lake Country protects your wood from weather related damage such as excessive cracking, splintering and graying.

Myth: In order for the wood to be protected it needs to have a solid color paint or stain.

Fact: Color paints and stains fall into the "film forming" definition of protectants. In order for these to work properly you need to cover ALL six sides of the wood. If you don't get full coverage, pealing and cracking will happen within 6 to 12 months. You will also need to strip each board prior to reapplication. You need Wood Re New too! A common misconception is that “pressure treated” wood is protected from weathering. Not true. This lumber contains chemicals that protect it from insect infestation and wood rot only – not damage caused by the elements (graying, warping, splitting and cracking).

1) The first step is to clean your wood. Dirt, mold and mildew are removed, using an exclusive, thick foam cleaner, designed to “cling” to the wood. Unlike typical power washing with store bought cleaners our exclusive Wood Re New Cleaner sets us apart from all others. This thick, foam cleaner is so effective, we are able to use low pressure to wash your wood, which means less wood damage.
